ABOUT , VISION & MISSION
Jewish Peoplehood provides the ability to talk about road maps to the Jewish future:
-
How do we make our collective being relevant and meaningful?
-
How to navigate as a diverse People with increasing divisiveness?
-
How to communicate the worth of belonging?

Vision
Our goal is to strengthen the bonds that enable Jews around the world, in all their diversity, to feel value from belonging to a common People. CJPE envisions a Jewish future where Peoplehood is not just an idea but a lived experience — embedded in the institutions, social and ceremonial experiences that shape everyday Jewish life.
Our Mission
CJPE empowers Jewish professionals to cultivate a sense of belonging within the diverse Jewish people.
We equip educators and leaders with the tools to create inclusive, engaging, and meaningful Jewish experiences that strengthen connections, build community, and inspire active participation in Jewish life and broader society
CJPE's definition of Jewish Peoplehood
Peoplehood is a consciousness that provides the foundations, purpose and meaning of Jewish collectivity.
A consciousness which nurtures collective Jewish life locally and globally, expressed through Jewish institutions, communities and education.
Jewish Peoplehood: A Living Experience
Jewish Peoplehood is more than an individual identity—it is a shared civilization encompassing religious traditions, cultural expressions, ethical principles, values and historical heritage that link Jews across generations and locations.
The awareness of being part of a global and historical People is embedded in daily life. It is reinforced each time a Jewish person enters a synagogue, a JCC, a Hillel , or any communal Jewish space. This connection is sparked by familiar symbols and experiences, for example seeing a Torah scroll, hearing Hebrew melodies, engaging with Jewish wisdom, experiencing Jewish art, or following news that resonates with Jews worldwide.
We believe that every Jewish professional, educator, and leader is a Peoplehood educator, playing a key role in fostering a shared consciousness of belonging to a historical and global Jewish People. CJPE helps educators recognize that they are more than teachers or administrators; they are facilitators of Jewish collective belonging. By intentionally shaping the environments and experiences within their institutions and communities, they cultivate moments that strengthen Jewish recognition, connection, and belonging for those they serve.
At CJPE we provide practical ways for Jewish professionals to enable their constituents to see themselves as active participants in an ongoing Jewish story—one they are continually interpreting and contributing to. Through training, research, thought leadership and guidance, we help educators and leaders make the experience of belonging to the Jewish People more accessible, meaningful, and relevant to the lives of those they serve. CJPE promotes a conscious commitment to the collective well-being (areivut haddadit) and the ethical mission of tikkun olam - making the world a better place for all.
